As someone that is...Wow! I can not wait to see it!
As someone that is a teacher of language and a desperate learner of a language I always like to see some find a new fun technique to hone their skills. (Not that I can see my corporate students working with yarn and beads.) HAha Thanks for the inspiration to work on my bi-lingual blog again. ;)kaystirhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10073738562174033359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-137739427051796526.post-74690371390856954112012-07-25T00:04:36.887-07:002012-07-25T00:04:36.887-07:00Bronwyn? This lands the celebration in summer, with all those easy fun party ideas for the hot weather: bathing suits and sprinklers, make-your-own sundaes, water pistol 'battles' (not the huge super soakers!)etc. Plus the gifts received are usually hot weather related, so you are all well-supplied for summertime fun.
One of my sisters and one of my brothers were almost Christmas babies. We were a religious family and their birthdays just became an extension of the holidays, instead of a true celebration of them. And a lot of relatives cheated them with just one gift for birthday and Christmas, as I'm sure finances were strained at that time of year. Plus it made them feel left out as everyone else's birthday so clearly 'belonged' just to them.
Years later we had a baby in our extended family whose parents followed the new tradition of a small family gathering on the actual birthday but the big children/fun party on the 1/2 year mark. It was a big hit for everyone, the parents decreased their stress at the holidays, the child had the focus, like they witnessed all their friends did, instead of the holiday taking over!
I agree with you that Christmas is a religious holiday which has gotten way too commercial and full of time-consuming (!) preparations so we can so easily forget the true meaning of the day.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-137739427051796526.post-69862967482712976152011-09-28T21:04:53.277-07:002011-09-28T21:04:53.277-07:00kaystir, you would LOVE this yarn in person! Gandhi promoted the use of charkhas as a way for Indians to spin the cotton they produced which, in turn, would allow them freedom from British control over the Indian cotton industry.durham_knitshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13199399492519131228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-137739427051796526.post-48100084170196866502010-08-27T08:33:18.283-07:002010-08-27T08:33:18.283-07:00what is a charkha?what is a charkha?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
